Respite Care Services
Caring for a loved one can be rewarding, but it can be physically and emotionally draining.
At Yorkshire and Humber Healthcare Alliance, we want you to know that you can take a short break from time to time.
Our respite care service gives you a break from the day-to-day care duties, which will allow you to recharge your batteries. We have a dedicated team who provide our services to those who need them; we can give you the reassurance you need to relax and know your loved one is receiving expert care and support.
What is Respite Care?
Respite care is also known as short term care; its main aim is to provide temporary relief to carers either overnight or for more extended periods. At YHHA, we understand that everyone needs a break and some time to themselves, especially if they are caring for someone full-time.
Our respite care service can be planned as a one-off, or you can organise regular visits; we want to reassure you that your loved one is getting the support they require. Respite care gives carers a much-needed break from taking care of loved ones or family members; it allows people to attend holidays or other commitments.
Duties of Respite Carers
Our highly skilled carers are able to take over the duties you, as the caregiver, do on a daily basis. We aim to get to know you and your family member thoroughly before we carry out respite care; you can tell us precisely what you want from the service and how we can help. If you would like feedback on how your loved one has been and any changes can be made to our respite service.
Typically, your carers daily tasks can include:
Clinical Care, such as continence support and catheter care if needed.
Personal Care, including washing, dressing, showering and toileting.
Mobility, aiding your loved one with moving around their home safely.
Ongoing Companionship and emotional support.
Meal Preparation, preparing meals throughout the day.
House Keeping includes laundry, drying clothes, hoovering and light domestic duties.
Time to recharge your batteries
When you’re looking after a loved one or family member, it can be rewarding, but at times it can be demanding and exhausting. Taking time away from caring is vital for your health and wellbeing; you may only need a few days to recharge your batteries, but we can organise the care your loved one needs.
At YHHA, we have a team of dedicated carers who can help to provide care when you need a break from daily caring. Our highly qualified carers can visit your loved one and take over the caring you do; we can help to take the pressure away.
